Dr Najjar manages all stages of pregnancy from pre-conceptual planning to follow-up of the birth and your six-week check up. As you progress through the various stages of pregnancy, the utmost care is taken with all appropriate antenatal screening and consideration of the various symptoms that may occur. Dr Najjar practices safe obstetrics. Interventions will be recommended only if deemed necessary during the pregnancy or labour.

Hospitals for delivery are based on individual preference. Dr Najjar manages confinement at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital, Waverley Private Hospital, Cabrini Hospital and Masada Private Hospital. However, in the event of a complicated pregnancy, admission to Jessie McPherson Private Hospital will be arranged for the purposes of support from both the Adult and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

Gynaecology and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery

Dr Najjar conducts all aspects of assessment and management, whether medical or surgical, of benign gynaecological disease. Treatment of all female pelvic disease is patient-focussed.

Dr Najjar manages most gynaecological problems that require surgery by minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery (key-hole surgery). The advantages of this compared to open surgery (laparotomy) include:

• More cosmetically aesthetic with smaller scars
• Less pain
• Faster recovery period and resuming normal activities sooner
• Shorter hospital stay
• Less post-operative adhesions
• Smaller risk of infection

Dr Najjar is also clinically comprehensive in the medical/surgical management of Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom. He is also at the forefront of technology in the surgical treatment of uterine fibroids and heavy menstrual bleeding by keyless surgery. Dr Najjar also commonly treats Pelvic Organ Prolapse.

Uninsured patients who wish to be treated at a public hospital will be admitted within Southern Health, including Monash Medical Centre and Casey Hospital.

Infertility and IVF

Services offered include the evaluation and diagnosis of infertility of both male and female patients. In male patients this includes comprehensive semen analysis using strict criteria assessment and a hormonal and genetic screening.
